GRINNELL COLLEGE. Full-time, renewable non-tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Physical Education; flexible start date; spring 2008 preferred. Assistant Professor (Master’s degree with a concentration in physical education or related field required) preferred; Associate Professor possible; experience in coaching at the college level is preferred. Grinnell College is a highly selective undergraduate liberal arts college; the Department of Physical Education is responsible for intercollegiate athletics, activity and theory courses, intramural and club sports, and general wellness. The College’s curriculum is founded on a strong advising system and close student-faculty interaction, with few college-wide requirements beyond the completion of a major. The successful candidate will serve as the head football coach, as an assistant coach in a second sport, and will participate in the teaching of physical education courses. In letters of application, candidates should discuss their interest in developing as a teacher and scholar in an undergraduate, liberal-arts college that emphasizes close student-faculty interaction. They also should discuss what they can contribute to efforts to cultivate a wide diversity of people and perspectives, a core value of Grinnell College.
